"There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle." - Albert Einstein
If you think back to an especially profound moment in your life, you'd probably find a handful of synchronicities leading up that point. A connect-the-dots of your life, if you will. Synchronicities are thought of as meaningful coincidences, but we really know that there's more at play than just a coincidence.
Imagine that you're broadcasting a silent signal. That signal looks for a similar signal to communicate with. Like a walkie-talkie, the signals want to find the same frequency to communicate on. This is the law of attraction. When you keep singing a song in your head and then you hear it on the radio, that's a synchronistic moment. If you're thinking, "okay crazy lady, that's never happened to me." PAY ATTENTION! Being aware is the biggest step in allowing synchronicities to happen. If you finally heard that song on the radio and didn't bother to think, "wow, how cool is that?!" then you'll miss out on all of the fun moments along the way. Who knows how many infinite moments already happened without you realizing them. Be aware and be grateful. Gratitude is a frequency also, so imagine the endless events that will unfold when you get on that frequency. Vibrations, or vibes, want to find a match. "We just didn't vibe with each other," said the vegan after a terrible online date with a taxidermy enthusiast. That silent signal can be the deal-breaker on first dates (also last dates), job interviews, parking spots, or how you think your day will go. What vibe are you sending out? What keeps showing up in your life, whether it's positive or negative? The more you place your focus and attention on that experience, the more you draw that vibe towards you. It's easy to feel like everything is out of your control at times, but one thing you have control over is the vibe you're putting out.
My journey to massage school was full of those moments. Let's wind back the clock to 2014...
I was recovering from a serious concussion and at a huge crossroads of: "I have no idea what my life is going to look like." Because of my injury, I had to quit my job of three years and put my most of my healing practice on hold. I was tormenting myself about not only how I was going to manage working, but finding a career that I loved. Times were bleak.
One day I was sitting in my healing room, feeling completely in love with my surroundings, and I thought, "I always want to work in a place that feels this relaxing." Immediately I noticed a book across the room about Therapeutic Massage. I had never heard of massage outside of the special-occasion-pampering-gift-certificate variety. Reading more about how injuries and chronic pain could be healed with massage was a complete eye-opener for me. The next day I had a missed (accidental) call from a massage studio where I used to do energy work at three years before. What a funny coincidence, right? Nope.
The missed call really caught my attention, it felt too particular to just be a simple coincidence. That night I researched local massage schools and saw that an open house was happening the next day. WOW, talk about great timing.
From the moment I walked in the doors of the school, I knew that I'd found my next step. It felt right, and like all of my best life decisions, my intuition led the way. The yearly 10-month program was starting in a month, which gave me extra time to heal before starting classes. I signed up on the spot. If I had dismissed the missed call from the massage studio as a weird mistake, I might never have gone to massage school. (And I wouldn't be sitting here right now writing this blog about having gone to massage school.)
If you want to deliberately have a synchronistic moment, try this fun experiment: choose a type of car, animal, song, or particular symbol and be open and intent on finding it. Remember, once you open your awareness to something you bring it into your vibe. Declare this out loud or silently, "Ok Universe, by the end of this week I'm going to see a ______." When I did this experiment with a ladybug, I saw a red VW beetle car with black dots on it. The Universe has a kickass sense of humor.
I view synchronicities as proof that the Universe has your back and is cheering you on. The times of my life when I was most in my zone were surrounded by little synchronicities along the way. Don't disregard those signals, they're like blinking lights guiding you in life. Keep following the lights from one moment to the next, it might lead you to that ideal job, soulmate, or even the exactly right direction when GPS signal has failed. Stay curious. Your life has meaning and there's magic to be felt, you just have to pay attention.
Have you had a synchronistic moment? Of course you had! Share your story below, I love hearing about these moments.
